Aquarium

This was one of Ella's favorite things...drawing! As soon as we walked inside she remembered that this room was coming up and starting asking to draw.
Extremely random alien exhibit...these are across from the stuffed reindeer and plastic Eskimos. The Eskimos totally freak me out. :)
Ella and I have season passes to one of the world's worst aquariums. We went a couple weeks ago with some friends and today L is painting the living room so we went back in an effort to keep little hands out of wet paint. I enjoyed the outing with Ella and for the most part I think she enjoys going to the aquarium but they keep it pretty dark in there so sometimes she acts like its a little scary for her. It costs $14.75 to go once but a season pass is $23 so I thought it would be a great deal to just get a season pass...a cool way to pass the summer before baby sister arrives... but in the end I'm not sure we will go many more (or any more...) times.

And the Survey Says...

As many of you know, L has been teaching at a local university this semester. He taught two courses, Environmental Geography for undergraduates (he used both languages for this one) and and Scientific Writing for graduate students (mostly done in English). In all he had five classes and around 230 students. Tomorrow he will give the last of the final exams and then be out for the summer (and he's already started painting our living room...what a sweet husband)!

We have felt very thankful for the provision of this job this semester. It was a lot of work for L to put together all of his lesson plans but the school worked with him so that all of the classes could be on Mondays and Fridays and it also provided visas for our entire family AND gave him the opportunity to meet some neat people. Next semester he will teach the same courses but has to add a Tourism Management class, but it looks like his classes will all be on Thursdays and Fridays.

Here are some of my favorite answers from the end of class surveys that L had the students do:

1. What did you like about this class?

I like the relax atmosphere in the class and the teacher's humors.

The kind teacher.

Teacher - Our Mr. L

The teacher is very kindful.

The teacher is handsome but fat.

2. How useful is this class for your future?

What I have learnt from this class help me understand many thing in my daily life, for example sinkholes.

3. What did you not like about this class?

If there was no test...

Actually, I didn't hate this class.

4. How old are you?

I'm 22 already!

5. Do you have any other suggestions for the class or the teacher?

Talk about your family, especially your daughter

More life...more

Add some flash, make class more living

I think the class is perfect. I hope the class can be more interesting.

Less questions in the exam, or if only not exam?!

PS...

You're a humorous person.

So, come on! You are a good teacher! I believe that you can do it better and better.

Broccoli Salad

We thought L's family would enjoy seeing Ella enjoy a family favorite...broccoli salad. She would slurp all of the dressing off and then would actually eat a lot of the piece of broccoli. In fact about the only thing I think she ended up eating last night was broccoli!

Sharing Lovey

Sometimes Ella wants to do something super sweet for us so she cuddles up next to us and puts lovey on our nose.

Children's Day

Last week our country celebrated Children's Day. Kids got time off of school and from what I saw at the grocery store Children's Day involves being given a LOT of candy! L's work gave all the parents a voucher for $7 to buy something for their kids in the school store and this was actually the only toy he could find. But, Ella seems really happy with it!

Animal Noises

Tonight Ella was working on an animal puzzle so I took the opportunity to get a video of her cute little animal noises. She's at the stage where its really hard to get a video of her if she knows what I'm doing! She just runs towards the camera saying, "Ella!" and points to the back screen because she wants to see the picture of video that I've taken.

Goober

Yesterday Ella and I were reading the creation story and there was a picture of a brown deer/dog looking animal. Ella immediately pointed to it and said, "Goober!" (Goober is L's family's dog.)
